Silver Dollars and planted aquariums are about as compatible as a school of guppies and a 10" Oscar.

Actually, the oscar might ignore the guppies since the oscar is so much bigger....I heard of someone that kept a silver arrowana with a school of cardinals once.

Fun fact, I did see ONCE and only ONCE a planted 125 gallon tank with a school of healthy silver dollars and severums....of course the plants used where mostly things like java fern and anubias and I doubt trying an experiment like that is really worth it if your main focus is the plant selection as opposed to the fish with the plants being an accent in the environment.

I have seen Juvi oscars school with guppies, then realize they are tasty and pick off a few, then back to schooling.
