Microsoft Venting!

Two laptops over here that both just received some "critical updates" and are both dead as a doornail. I can't even boot into safe mode on either one of them. I'm guessing the only reason I can use the desktop to even vent here is either that I'm running xp and/or that I have automatic updates disabled for this very reason.

What OS? You can try most recent config that worked when booting.

Hi Bandit1200,

Sorry for your issues, my laptop just did it's updates about 20 minutes ago and rebooted with no problems....Windows 7 on laptop.

i've never used windows updates
nor antivirus
nor firewalls
they are all backdoors for the exact samething they are trying to protect u from

just some advice frm a friendly computer builder

This week's updates left my desktop computer totally hosed up. Four of them failed and after a reboot, the computer said it was not a valid windows 7 install.

After revalidating I had to change back to a normal desktop instead of the black it switched to, had disable UAC to get anything to work, and I'm still struggling to get Media Center running. It just crashes.

Reverting back to the previous system restore point didnt work. It said the restore point failed.

Windows updates just got turned off by me going forward.
