Help identifying algae and finding a cure

I need help identifying this algae. My water parameters look good i'm not sure what the problem is.

Water parameters are as follows:

Gh. 5
Kh. 6
Ph averages 6.8 while co2 is on
Running a 20 inch finnex fugeray on a 5 gallon fluval spec
Dosing pps pro daily
Every other day I dose .5ml excel

How's the flow around the plants? Is that a drop checker? Move it around the tank.

The flow seems okay. I have the standard pump on the filter as well as a hydor mini running on the other side. The drop checker is reading yellow. I will move it and check different areas of the tank

I think I may have hacked a bit to much durin my last trim. The algae started after I cut the money wart from the top down instead of from the roots.

Looks like staghorn. Manually remove as much as possible. As you probably dread hearing, CO2 is probably your issue. If situation is really bad, do a blackout to really blow the algae back and then add fast growing plants and a lot of them. Make sure you have good flow around the tank. Also reduce lighting.

Can I reduce the photoperiod or do I need to reduce the actual intensity of the light? I'm running the finnex fugeray 20" for 8 hours per day right now.

I did a massive trim and turned up my CO2. I turned down my photo period from 8 to 6 hours. I also replaced my root tabs. This seems to have stopped the algae growth.

it looks more like hair algae than staghorn, sounds like you are on the right track though

I agree it does look more like hair algae. With the changes I made it seems to be held at bay and my shrimp seem to be cleaning what is left over. It looks like it is turning white instead of green which I think is a good sign.

the shrimp will gobble it up. The turning white is probably from excel dosing
