When will flower open?

Bula Vinaka! My Tiger Lotus has just sent up several flowers. The bud is already 3" from the water surface. How long will it take to open? In addition how may I use this occurrence to get more plants?

One more thing, I read that this was a large plant but I didn't believe it until it made 4 foot spread and shaded my entire 65 gallon!! Unbelievable!!

I have had lotus plants for 4-5yrs and I have never had one flower! You are lucky,

of course I tend to trim all the surface leaves they put up so I guess its my fault

HAHAHA it begins. Its a white flower! Smells pretty good!! I will post a picture, as soon as I figure out how. Anybody know how I may translate this flower into more plants? I am going to begin construction of a 240gal and I would love it if it were filled with flowering lotus.
