Ghost Shrimp turned white
I have about 2 dozen ghost shrimp and one, that is a nice size turned a milky white color, almost cream in color. It's head is still clear. Looks healthy, active, eating. What the heck?

Ghost shrmp turn white when they are about to die, he probably only has a week or so to live. Ghost shrimp only live two years max, so if he is big it might just be his time.

Well, it's been a week now and this shrimp is still happy and eating and never hides. Any other ideas?

I haven't dealt with freshwater ghost shirmp but i have had saltwater ghost shrimp in a freshwater tank though ( as feeders ) and there are always 2-3 shrimp out of a batch of 40 that i buy that will stay alive in my freshwater tank for a prolonged period of time (1-2 weeks! ) During this time i notice that slowly but surely the shrimp start turning white before they die. To me, it seems that their cells start dying off because once you they have white , that white area is "dead". I've witnessed a shirimp that was half white and half clear and my fish were eating the white back part as it was still swimming around the tank. Sorry to hear about your shrimp, hopefully i'm wrong and they will be ok. Just thought i'd give insight to what i have seen from my experience
