Question

Dwarf Neon Rainbows

Wanting to get 5 or 6 of these guys in my 30g tall. I know they are not aggressive and good community dwellers, my question is do they inhabit more the middle of the tank or top or bottom? I'm heavily stocked in the middle and bottom and need a school of top dwellers (wanted Marbled Hatchets but they're a high jump risk). It's heavily planted. Any knowledge about dwarf neons or other suggestions? Thanks.

Other inhabitants:

9 Gold Barbs
1 Betta (pansy)
1 GBR
2 Cory Cats
1 Zebra Loach
4 Otocinclus

I don't think your tank is long enough for those guys. Maybe a threadfin or Gertrude eould be better.

Not a fan of threafins but gertrudes seem interesting, although I don't think my LFS carries them. I'll have to find out.

Mine are definitely mid dwellers, however I've lost a few to jumping out of the tank so if your tank isn't covered I'd be wary. Also like was mentioned before, I don't think a 30 gallon is big enough for a good school. They are great fish though

Espei rasbora's are pretty good at staying at the top and look great.

My tank is covered but seeing as rainbows usually need a lot of room to swim I think I'll wait til I upgrade my tank (or, you know, get another one ) to get a big school. Guess if I secure the tank well Marbled Hatchets should stay put. I tried a Gardner's Killi to no avail, he went back 2 days later Such a gorgeous boy he was too! Espei's are ok but I think I'd prefer hatchets. Thanks for the info everyone!

+1 on the espei rasboras. Gorgeous little fish. I have a school in my tank with neons and rummy nose.
