Blasted ich!

So I bought 9 neons yesterday. They looked great at the store. Drip acclimated for over an hour. Put them in the tank and then I notice 2 or 3 have what looks like the beginning of ich. I don't have the ability to qt, so I'll have to treat the tank. With plants and cories, I'm a bit hesitant to use meds, so I'm going to try heat and water changes only. Think I'd be out of lineto ask the lfs to borrow an adjustable heater? The one I have is a preset.

I used Coppersafe with my tank and the corys are doing great. I increased the temp of the tank to 81. All fish seem great. I have a week and half in. Cleared up some spots on my angel and his fin clamp is gone.

I had a similar issue and am currently running my tank at 88 with heavy salt.

The fish that the ich showed up on way more than any other died, but the rest seem to be doing great. Still can't wait to turn down the temp in a week and a half though.

TPT says I'm an algae grower... I'd like to think of myself as one hell of a Cabomba farmer.

Here guys just show some very small signs. Hope I'm early enough to avoid large scale break out.

That's the problem with most neons, they get raised in huge fish farms, and most come with nasty things like ich.

Isn't copper safe bad for plants?

Good luck on your ich adventure

Ever since I started adding a small amount of sea salt into my tank, I have never had another outbreak of ich. It also hasn't seemed to have any effect on my plants. I would try heat + salt to start with. Good luck!

I've never had ich in all my 13 years of fish keeping.

One neon dead, one missing. Temp up to 84 so far. Not sure his 100 watt heater is going to get my 29 gallon to 86*

It eventually happens to everyone, and i've noticed these past few years neon stocks are becoming worse on the healthy front. I'd be doing a lot of vacuuming, and water changes. If they ich becomes free from the ich spores per say it gets in the water volume, and substrate, thats when it really becomes a much larger issue.

Make that 3 dead..... One missing. The other 5 look happy and are swimming actively. Only one of the remaining living had one small visible spot.

Add me to the boat of new Neons with ich.

Just noticed it yeterday, have lost a small handful in the past 48 hours. Slowly upping the heat and added about 2 tablespoons per 5 gallons of water to my 65. My Otos and Betta seem to be fine, though.

Hoping the plants are okay with the salt and heat. I've read around and heard that others have had success using this method with plants.

Such a PITA though. My tank is fairly new and the plants were just settling in and showing lots of new growth.
