29 gallon paludarium (many pics)
Hey all. I'm a newbie dart frog hobbiest. A friend asked for me to build a Paludarium for him. Here is what I came up with. It's 29 gallons. Present home of two siamese algea eaters. Soon to come school of neon tetra and lemon or glo light tetra. I'm planted tank curious and I'm only beginning to learn and understand the needs of plants and fish. More aquatic plants to come in this tank.

Duetto 50 multifilter with a duetto 100 impeller. ![]() Baskets, cork wood, great stuff, handi foam ![]() silicone over great stuff and handi foam coco bedding pressed on top. ![]() Brown and black silicone painted over handi foam to create a mud look.

How much does creating something like this cost? I have been interested but I am not sure where to begin or what is needed.

This tank basic cost about $350. I had a few things around. I still need a few things more too. I did put 3 Long fin Zebra Danio, 3 neon Tetra, and 3 green neon Tetra in there over the weekend. Heck, fish were the cheapest part.

Don't worry yourself too much they ( SAEs) are very small now and have a future home when all grown up. |

Minnie, Ask and you shall receive.
[IMG] [/IMG]This is the most updated pic I have. Since this pic Java fern and Najas grass were both added to the tank. The Java moss grew in very nicely too. This tank is now with it's permanent owner. I battled a bout of ich (looks like I won) and there had still been no noticeable algae bloom. I dropped the ball on taking pics the day before it got picked up. It was in our dinning room and the whole family seems to miss it. I have purchased an 8 gallon finnex set up and will eventually have a thread going in the nano forum. However for now I have a couple of more dartfrog tanks to set up. Thanks for you interest. This project as well as living near Aqua Forest Aquarium in SF have shown me just how cool planted tanks really are. |
