Soil for MTS?

How much soil do you suggest I buy for making MTS? This would be for 150 gallon tank 72x18

Are you going to be using ONLY MTS? Or are you capping it with something?

I would find the square footage you need to cover and look at the coverage area of the bag of soil you're planning on getting. Being a planted tank, I'd use about a three inch bed for healthy root growth.

Here's a batch I made last year

I used $1.17 40# bags from Home Depot. I believe You might have 10-20% loss during the MTS process. Your math is LxDX2" for volume. I use a 1 to 1.5" sand cap.
