Hi,
I found this bog wood on the beach and I was wondering if anybody can help me identify what kind of wood is and if is ok to put it in my fish tank.
Thank you.

Default Nice find, but it's freshly cut wood.

As far as I know, you can't use freshly cut woods in a tank.

Pretty sure it leaches toxins into the water that will poison your fish.

If it was possible to put rooted stumps into tanks, it would have been done already. That's why those fish furniture companies create wood like resin decorations, but they look fake to me.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

It's been on the beach for several weeks and I'm not planning to use it right away.I am more concerned about the type of the wood as I know not all types are good for aquariums.I used wood in my fish tank before, but were small pieces. This one would fit very good, but if I don't get any positive opinion I will renounce to the idea.
Thank you very much for your opinion.

As I recall, there is an involved process in preparing wood for an aquarium involving boiling and soaking it in water for several weeks. If I understand it correctly - you should be able to prepare just about any wood this way by forcing all of bad stuff out. The boiling works similarly to making tea if I'm right.
