About Azoo...

I've been going nuts for 3 days trying to find out if the Azoo Palm filter is the same as the Azoo Mignon 60. Azoo's website doesn't list any one filter called Palm, and the smallest they list is the 60. The 60 is rated for 3.5 gal aquarium in some sources, Dr F&S say the Palm is good for up to 5 g. On YouToob, a fellow gives a decent tutorial on how to use other media in them and says "This is the Mignon 60, also known as the Palm". Amazon lists them separately. So conflicting info.

I now have a headache.

Does anyone have any more info? or links ?

I think the confusion probably comes from drsfostersmith listing it as "Azoo Palm Filter" - the mignon 60 seems like the same thing (dimensions are pretty close to what's listed on the dfs store link too).

I actually ordered one a few days ago from them, should arrive tomorrow or next day - I can report back on the model number on the box.

I've been using the Red Sea filter, it works more like a trickle filter for me because I jammed so much filter floss into it. Since it moves such a small amount of water I wouldn't use it for anything larger than a 2 gallon.

The people who have used it for a 5 gallon probably switched out/upgraded their OEM filter media with the ceramic noodle bio-media.

i use mine primarily for water movement. I use one sliver of filter media :3

all of my filters go the coarse sponge /fine sponge (I cut 'em to size) /ceramic route very soon after I get them. If I need charcoal temporarily, I put some in a small mesh. Polishing, I use a blue/white batting temporaily as well. The thought I had was they were so small, inexpensive, looked cool, and worked well, I'd put 3-4 of them on the back of a divided 10, but it appears that would be marginal in effectiveness...bottom line is the health of the tank. Love my ACs, but they do push a current, and they look...functional, lol
