Added some red barn stone to cover the PVC and since this I have cut the rotala and replanted 4 more from the trimmings. Also dosed with ferts for the first time today. Used the flourish line of NPK and trace. Use how much they said but only gonna do all of them once a week until I determine what I need

Cool Setup!!!
I really like Kribs! What kind of substrate is that? Also is that a whole piece of pvc or did you cut it in half? What is the diameter of it? It is going to be cool watching them spawn and raise some babies!!! Subscribed Good luck! Drew |

It's flourite sand and its more or less 2/3rd of a PVC pipe I believe it is 4" diameter. It was in the trash at work so I figured why not

Thanks. Only issues so far is a light dusting from the sand. It gets in the leaves and glass daily. Also it's hard to plant in I poke a hole to put a plant and pull out my finger it back fills lol

how do you like that flourite sand? been thinking of using it for my 125.
my kirbs have another round of eggs... so i need to get going on some brine shrimp. I've let my pair attempt three different spawns and all have died off, so this time i'm going ot be a bit more active with feeding them. for planting, I suggest using some forceps/long tweezers. try to get stainless steel. I got some fluval crap and it has surface rust. i got one of these http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...m?pcatid=12038 tank is looking good! good luck

I like the sand. Like I said previously u can't really punch a hole for planting like I can gravel or some other medium. I do have the fluval tongs so I hope mine don't rust :/. But with the sand and planting tongs u can just push the stem right into the substrate without a hole and drag back up to orient the roots. I've only had my Kribs not even a week so no spawning yet but my male won't leave the cave at all. I'm not even sure if he's eating.
