I would like to share with everyone news of a new comprehensive book on aquarium gardening: Secrets to Aquarium Gardening.

One of the things that makes this different is that it is on CD! This is a digital book, in the format of an actual book, (with turning pages and everything!) You can read it from the CD, print it on hard copy, or load it onto your desktop.

This is a straight forward book in simple language that covers the following:

How to set up a planted tank

Understanding C02, how its used and all the current methods of using it. Choosing the right C02 solution and how to have a plant tank without adding C02.

Lighting, plain simple explanations of the terms used in lighting, and how to provide the right level of lighting for what you need.

Substrates. An overview of different substrate methods and what plants really need without the hype.

A general overview of plant nutrition and how to provide it. Recommended dosage levels of various macro and minor nutrients at you finger tips. How to recognize nutrient difficiencies.

How to best choose your plants according to size of your aquarium, biotope, or lighting. Complete information on the top 20 easiest aquarium plants. Tips on aquascaping and arranging. Dozens and dozens of full color photographs. Direct hyperlinks to resources around the net.

This book is meant to be a good blueprint for someone setting up a new planted aquarium as well as a quick reference for refreshing forgotten information.

In the near future this book may be available all over the internet and in your local pet store for $21.99. It is available first from only one place in the whole world, my WEB site! It will be shipping two weeks from today, (August 30), but you can pre order it now for $15.99. Email me for information. My apologies if this message is too commercial for this forum.

No apologies needed Robert , commercial or not , information is the best tool.

That is an interesting concept of a "Video Book" This sounds like something to add to the collection. I'll be in touch soon.

By any chance is this authored by yourself and other AB Enthusiasts?

Yes, I am the author and the pictures come from the aqua botanic aquascaping contest. Any one who has followed my WEB site since 1999, knows that the information presented trys to show all the ways of keeping plants, not just one point of view that is the only right way of doing things. I have always tried to show a balance of various methods, or to try and show the commonalities of all methods. There is no one right way, but there is a science behind all the madness!

This book is no different. There is no ground breaking new information. No grand new discoveries. No magic bullet to get rid of algae or make your plants grow faster. I leave new theory to the likes of Tom barr and others. But what it does do hopefully is pull together all the overwelming amount of sometimes conflicting information out there and put it together in an easy to read, easy to understand, quick reference format. Nor is it tied into using any specific brand of products. Its not an advertising vehicle for my business. Just straight up, honest information, inspired by the people of forums like this one and the forums on my WEB site.

I see no problem with your "advertising" Robert. The information about it probably would have reached the board sooner or later, and you just gave it to us faster. It is not like you are over here blatantly to advertise your products. Plus I'm happy to help out anyone who runs a quality business (unlike a certain site, no names please ).

Yes Robert do you ship to Australia?

Would love to get something like this for my collection.

Could you also let us know things like shipping costs especially air freight.

Paul

I can pretty much answer for Robert here. Shipping a CD to AU is not going to be a problem. Should not cost much either. And it can be shipped normal Postal Service.

Rex I don't want it to go the normal postal service as I did this eight months ago and it too 11 weeks to get here. Apparently this is because they put all the mail, aside from those air freighted, on a cargo ship which has to travel over the ocean to get to us. So I would be interested in having it sent by air. Just a week for that.

I can ship it anywhere, and by mail doesnt have to take 8 weeks, its just that the slowest method is the cheapest. The mail can get it to you quicker if you want to pay for it.

Global Priority Mail is an option for a small item like CD. It would only run around $5-$9 UDS and take about a week.

Sign it as in autograph? LOL! It is only on CD, but I would be happy to sign it! Our system was taken down by a virus which has delayed shipping the CD. Should be going out next Monday
