Eheim 2217 or 2073?
Hi All,
I have a 36 gallon tank currently using a ML 200 w/ bio-wheel. I am about to upgrade my filter I am looking at the Eheim 2217($125) or 2073($190) (or another option if in the same price range). Which do you all think is the better bet, value and/or fit for my tank?

Both are good. The 2073 will be easier to maintain.

Eheim 2217, it gets better flow as it intakes from the bottom and flows through all the media to the output. All Classics are the best filters for medium to smaller tanks IMO! You well never hear someone come back and say I should have bought XXX brand or XXX model

2217 would be perfect for a 36 gal. I've got one on my 50 and it's slightly underpowered. Once it settles in, it's nearly silent and doesn't need to be monkeyed with often. It'll have plenty of filtration for that tank, but if you need more flow for some reason, add a koralia nano..

I have a 2217 on a 50 that i absolutely love, also run a hydor koralia 325 for no dead spots. Also have a inline 25 watt UV sterilizer and a inline hydor heater.

I ran a 2217 on my 29G and loved it. I have it hooked up as a secondary filter on my 110 now and it still does pretty good with a lily-pipe attached (pushes water all the way across).
