Rhizome Cutting?

I have an anubas nana attached to a small piece of wood. I want to remove and attach to a new piece of wood but for it to fit properly it would be best if I could basically cut it in half. Will this just kill the plant? The rhizome is roughly 4.5'' long, would be great if I could split into 2 plants.

Cutting it will've fine, this is how the plant is normally propagated.

Yup.

Its best if you try and leave a leaf or two, and some roots, but I've had bare rhizomes that are just the rhizome grow new leafs and new roots...though it does take some time.

Works for crypts as well, and lagenandra
