Fish compatibility in shallow tanks.
Sup guys.
I tried googling for this but I didn't get the suggestions I needed. I figured that many fish don't like shallow aquarium, (7 1/4ish inches tall). my school of featherfin rainbow fish would not move and they'd get freaked out like crazy so i moved them. my CPD's swims around more... but they clump in the corner because they are also stressed out. Gets freaked out really easily and stuff. Anyone have any suggestions on what school tropical fish I can use in shallow tank? i've seen people with neons doing well... thinking about it. Let me know guys. Thanks |

CPDs get freaked out and stress easily in any tank until they have a chance to get used to things. More plants and some dither fish will help but they're an easily spooked species.

My guess is stick with fish that are not easily fazed and like swimming at the surface. Common pet store varieties would probably work well like zebra danios, white cloud mountain minnows, guppies, etc. Your typical "bomb-proof" fish.

Beckford's Pencilfish may work, or Maculata Rasboras or Kubotai Rasboras, my wife has Maculata and Kubotai in her 12 gallon long which isn't much deeper than what you are working with.

Depends on how long and deep* the tank are?

Neat. I'm a forever advocate of Least Killfish, but neons might be nice. They don't really need vertical space.
