lighting schedule

I want to set up a lighting schedule that will optimize plant growth without undo algae problems.

Here is what I have:

150g tank (72 x 18 x 28)
pressurized CO2
Flourite substrate
1 fixture with 3 72" HO daylights @ 85W ea. (5500K)
1 fixture with 2 72" VHOTrichromatic @ 160W ea. (6500K)

The problem is that I need some light on at 7AM to feed fish. I hate going through all the effort to maintain this without being able to see the fruits of my labor in the evening. Each fixture is on a seperate timer so they can go on and off independently. What I have been doing is VHOs on at 7 AM, HOs on at 10AM, HOs off at 8:45PM, VHOs off at 9PM.

I have had a major algae problem that I know was caused by a dosing deficiency. I will get that resolved, but I want to make sure I am not creating more problems with too much light.

Any suggestions?
