Sorry, just saw this. Yes, the lid comes off. The tank is glass, the lid is plastic. I actually wish the lid didn't come off quite as easily as it does. There's no problem with cleaning it.

Good to know. That was probably my biggest concern with that tank just because the dimension are so funny. Only being able to look at pictures and read descriptions makes it hard to know practical details like that. I'm one of those people who'd rather have something in my hands to look at before I buy it.
