It is not too bad but to take pictures with the phone is like to play golf with rifle stock.
Sorry

LOL Maybe for the photo connoisseur, but I like seeing just about any photo of shrimp.

Thank you! I did in fact put camera phone in the title... If I had a 800$ DSLR with a 400$ macro lens you'd bet I'd be posting my photos but I only have an SLR with a less then complimentary low range lens. So I make do with my macro lens for my phone.

HAha, I used to be a professional photographer for years and still can't get decent pics of my shrimp (with the $1000 DSLR and several macro lenses). In all honesty some of my best shots I get with my Iphone and Olliclip! One day I'll sit down and figure out what I need to do to get the best shots with my DSLR.

Ive loved photography for as long as I can remember and always hoping to get that expensive camera but never ended up saving for it due to changes in interests or school etc. Even shooting with my SLR and tripod these little buggers are so quick that I could never catch an astonishing photo

Great!
What phone is that?
If it is an iPhone 5 then I'm not surprised.

$200 P&S can do the job too. Now they have good macro mode. You need camera with auto and manual settings and strong light on top of the tank. Sins those cameras have x2-3 sensor crop factor you will be surprised of the picture quality.

Ive got a waterproof p&s that I might try to stick in the tank for some pictures later. I wonder how that will work...Seeing as how my shrimp attack anything I put in the tank, including my hands, them hiding shouldnt be an issue. Anybody try this?

Just being, honest, but those are all OOF. What is the minimum focusing distance for that lens?

I was trying to focus on just the eggs for the first two photos and the third I wanted just the tail and the shine of the shell. Mayb if I played around on photoshop to blur out the edges more it would give the desired effect. And as for minimum focusing depth it's half an inch.
