Hi all, I'm no stranger to forums, so I'll start with an introduction. My name is Shawn, and I'm a 21-year-old college student in Charleston, WV. Soon to be 22, on Valentine's Day! Anywho, I joined this forum after lurking for a while to share my ventures into my first planted tank ever, which is also my second tank ever. I set my first tank up during the last Superbowl, which is a standard 20-gallon. I learned a lot from that tank and decided to further immerse myself into the hobby with a heavily-planted tank. I have no strict style of aquascape that I want to follow for this one, as it's mostly going to be my trial run into planted aquariums. I'm getting plants that look cool mostly, at my own discretion. I'll include a couple of pictures. The first one is just me starting the cycle in the 55 with some plants and dannios, the second is first aquascape that I went with, which changed because of my lack of the proper amount of substrate. The third is the newest and current aquascape, as well as my centerpiece fish: a pair of parrot cichlids that exhibited very close mating-pair interactions at my LFS.
I've had nothing but positive things come from this tank, minus some serious algae growth. I've since gotten a timer to control my light cycles a little better.
