t12 versus t8 odno observations?

I love the sticky thread, but am curious about real world observations as well.

Sticky thread indicated that light "density?" for t8 more than t12 (150 v 75 for no, 240 v 145 for 2x). That said, a t12 has 226sq inches of surface versus 150 for a t8. On top of that, we also are dealing with reflector issues.

My question for everyone who all has played with just replacing bulbs (in both no and odno), how did the looks (amount of light on your tank - brightness) of your tank change (and did it effect your plants if you did the experiment long enough).

The looks of the tank will only change if you are using differend brand bulbs and different kelvin bulbs. If you had a T12 and T8 that gave off the exact same color the T8 would be slightly brighter and would definitely be putting more lumens into the tank. Watts actually have nothing to do with the amount of light in the tank.
