Black Phantom Tetra looking woeful

One of my black phantom tetras isn't eating, so I asked my LFS and they told me that he must be eating something or he'd "perish". However, it literally hasn't eaten for about 2 months. I watch at every feeding time and he is getting smaller and smaller, thinner and thinner.

What should I do? Treat it further or euthanasia?

Also, I had some neons with white fungus, and breathing fast. I treated with anti fungus and melafix and the fungus is gone and the breathing is normal. The gills look ever so slightly inflamed still but do you think they are now healthy enough to return to my community tank?

Thanks

I'd probably put it down if it has no interest in food, but all your other fish are just fine.

You could try a different type of food, but fish, like basically every other animal, will eat even things they aren't fond of when they're starving.

Could be an infection or some type of parasite, but it's probably just best to get it out of the tank with the others and either treat it in QT or put it down.

How long ago did you treat the neons, and how long ago did the visible fungus disappear?

The neons were treated for the fungus for a week I think, or maybe slightly longer. My memory eludes me lol. They were then treated with melafix for a further week after this. From what you said, it seems like I can put them back tonight

Having said that, I just took a look at the neons in the QT and two of them have slightly elevated breathing rates. :l I think I might give the neons back to the shop for 33% store credit as I'm fighting a losing battle. The phantoms will go back as most of them look and always have been fine (bar the ill one). I will find a new batch of fish at a later date, brimming with health hopefully.
