metal frame tanks
Hello,
Ok so someone body local has a metal frame 10g on CL. With a old rod iron frame stand too! He said it was used for hamster and since the urine is soaked into the rubber around the frame it cant be used for fishes or they'll die? Any way to clean it to use for fishes? either way i'm still going get it. thanks! -Han |

its fine, if it holds water, you can just rinse it. at worst you may have a little more ammonia than normal when you start. gotta hold water first though.

That's what I thought.
Either way I'm getting it. Going see if it hold water. If it doesn't I'll try and reseal. If I can't get it to seal, then I'll use it for a emersed tank something. -Sent from my Samsung Note, a "Phablet"

If it is an actual old Metaframe tank it may (read that as more than likely will) leak. Don't despair. They used a product called asphaltum to build that tank. It may just need time to swell up a bit. Using hot water can get it to melt and reseal. I got mine to seal with patience. And I added dirt. Been leak free for over a year and a half now. There is no rubber in that tank. And if it has a slate bottom silicone won't stick to it.

Good to know.
I have to see it in person. Hard to tell by the pictures. All I can see the is shinny metal frame work. -Sent from my Samsung Note, a "Phablet"

I'd be more concerned that the rodent chewed/clawed up the sealant then whatever residue may remain from urine.

If it holds water.
Then I fill it let it soak. Drain and then do it again a few times. -Sent from my Samsung Note, a "Phablet"
