Does Garra Rufa eat blue green algae?
when I was visiting one of my favorite LFS's, I asked about blue green algae. the manager there said that the tap water lately has caused a lot of blue green algae problems and suggested a few things and one of them happened to be to introduce a fish called Garra Rufa into the tank. this LFS doesn't usually lie or anything and they are pretty trust worthy but I always prefer to do some research before I make a purchase on a fish. so does garra Rufa eat BGA? or will it just nibble on it?
this forum has been of great help recently and I am so great full of all of the support that this community gives out. thank you planted tank forum ![]() -Tetra10 |

the only thing that will eat BGA are things that eat biofilms. BGA is pretty similar to most biofilms and even creates its own. its probably the main reason many types of shrimp will eat it.
i culture it and often feed it to my cherry shrimp. now, if garra rufa eats biofilm... |
