It is a big filter for the tank but if you install a spraybar (either home made or a kit) and fill that bad boy up with media it will likely be alright.

Plus when you move to a bigger tank you'll already have the filter rated for it.

Hi Whiteblaze,

What a filter says its rated for and what you can use it for are 2 totally different things IMO.

I have a fx5 on a 75, eheim 2217 on a 50 and an AC110,Fluval405,Ehiem Pro ll,and a sponge filter rated for 110 gallons on my 125 all tanks have community fish.

Also are all fully planted.

I hope this sheds some light on the subject.
