Hello, I have spent the better part of today reading this and every post i can find regarding the Finnex LEDs and specifically the 24" Fuge and Ray II. I am definetly leaning Lower Light, no C02, and my tank will be a 60 Cube 24x24x24 with about 2.5 inches of substrate. Reading the available charts It seems to me that with the light mounted right above the water the Fuge may almost be too low of PAR readings at the substrate even for low tech, so I am leaning towards the Ray II. But I dont want to have algae problems and or be forced into CO2 before I am ready, though it is not out of the question down the road. I have had a few larger planted tanks so i am not inexperienced with planted tanks just these LED lights and the impact of PAR value. I am glued to these lights as they are aesthetically appealing and seem to have a great performance vs. price point.
Can you Hoppy, or Possibly Lowe, or anyone else of the many here who seem to be pretty knowledgeable or maybe someone actually using these lights in a medium sized tank give some opinion to help me decide between these 2? Tanks coming in one week so I would like to get my order in soon. TIA

I think you will be perfectly fine with the ray II. 24 inches is a pretty tall tank so the fugeray probably won't cut it even for low tech just like you mentioned. My vote is for ray II

I have one on a 75 gal. 24 inches tall.
Personally I like it in combo with a T5HO

To me it makes the tank pop

I am going to buy another 48 inch ray II this week. I like that they ship quick and its a fair price IMHO
The look is unbeatable, it just adds so much to a scape. Have fun with it

I don't have any PAR values to share, but I did find this video with a rayII mounted on what looks to be a standard height tank, and they're able to grow HC with it. But I would have two concerns; 1) being the 24 inch height on your tank, and 2) they might not light up the edges closest to the front and back panels very well because the fixture is so slim, even for a low tech tank.

Very good points. My initial concern was for too much lighting from the Ray II and the fact that I couldn't dim it without suspending it or raising it off the tank, which wont be an option. This was the only reason i considered the Fugeray. I ordered the II and will see how it rolls in the beginning. At this cost I can add a second of either model if we feel under lighted with the initial Ray II.
