Amzon Swords not growing

I bought a pair of amazon swords at least a year ago. They have gone from about a foot tall to about 8 inches tall and are a light green. The leaves look very spear like and don't really have any stalks on them but don't have any holes in them. I started dosing some fertilizers but haven't seen any change yet. How can I get them to grow?

They are heavy root feeders. Are you using and root tabs?
