Aquascaping first attempt (Beginners Luck) Day 7

Howdy! Newbie here!

I've kept tanks before, but mainly 6ft ones with big fish like silver dollars. I've always found planted tanks to be so relaxing to watch, so thought i'd attempt one myself.

The tank is 48x12x15, running an Eheim Pro 2 Thermo filter, I dose carbon daily and am awaiting a fert delivery.

I'm a complete beginner so welcome any feedback of any kind.

I'm hoping the hairgrass will carpet, the tanks only been scaped like this for a few days.

Haha :p I have it on another forum but feedback wasnt great, I always browse here and UKAPS and people seem much more forthcoming, so decided to give it a whirl

i like the aquascape and plants selected... the sandy path is a nice touch

Very nice. You have certainly done this before or have a good eye. I like this layout very much. Please keep updating I want to see what it looks like once the plants have filled in.

Looks great. Better then mine. Yours is very organized that's my problem i throw stuff every where.

It's going to look great once all grows in.

Looks great! Did you take the rims off of your tank or did it come like that?

I'm paranoid about it not growing out though haha.

My tank came like that, it has 2 supporting rims on either side of the glass near the top, you can see the line on the pics, theres no centre cross section. All I've done is taken the black cover off the front, the one on the back remains. It offers no structural support think its just there for visual purposes

Looks GREAT to me!

The DHG will look good along the sand path/river! I like the divider between the path and black substrate! Is it wood or rock? Either one it looks very nice! It will look even better when some algae or moss starts growing on it! Fish seem to be happy in it too!

Looks like Neons and either a Blue Ram or small Blue Jack Dempsey?

Do Ya have any algae eaters in there yet? Some Ottos would be great for the rocks, and then some Amano Shrimp will keep the DHG clean!

Keep up the Good Work, and the Pics as it fills in!

Just a small update, I went to my LFS and purchased 3 Ottos, 4 Amano Shrimp and 2 of what were advertised as Tiger Goby (see pic), I thought these were just saltwater?

My current stock is now 18 Neon Tetra, 1 Electric Blue Ram, 3 Otto Catfish, 4 Amano Shrimp, 2 Tiger Goby. Oh and a baby fish of unknown description that jumed a lift with the shrimp.

I've also raised the rocks slightly on the left handside, I think it looks much better, can't wait for the DHG to grow!

My fertiliser has arrived too which should hopefully start to make the plants look a bit healthier. Combined with my new algae army I'm excited for the coming weeks progress

Tank looks great. Much better than my several attempts aquascaping my 75g tank. Love the neons.
