New 125G Tank

Here is the start of my journey for the 125G Tank. I have set the following goals:

1. Large 125G Long "Show" Tank for the entryway of my home.
2. Must have a realistic 3D Rock wall look.
3. Must be unique, no standard designs or backgrounds.
4. All down pipes, heaters, filter outputs and airlines MUST not be visible inside the tank.
5. All outside equipment must be hidden in stand.
6. Must be whisper quite when operating.

Here are pictures of my empty canvas.

Looks interesting. Why do the background on the sides? Are you going to cover up the sides from the outside?

Will be following, looks fun.

Default Finish Background

I got the tank and stand from Pet Smart. I am doing the sides for two reasons.

1. To give it a total effect when you look at it from the front.
2. Since this is in the entryway of my home the sun will shine in from the front door. So to prevent algae growth.

I have finished installing the back and side panels, now I'm painting the back and sides of the tank black and installing the filter outflow pipes into the rocks that will be attached on the back panels. Note I also cut the bottom of the rocks (to allow water in) and added a plastic mesh to prevent fish from getting into the rock!

Default Rock Installation

I got the Background and side Rocks installed today! I am using Black silicone and play sand to make the seams blend in better. I am very happy so far with how this is coming out. I can tell you this has stretched my limits of DIY! I will start on the plumbing after waiting 24 hrs for the seals to dry. Let me know if you have any questions.

Default Plumbing Completed

I have completed the installation of the in-line UV sterilizer, heater and twin Filstar XP4's and preformed a leak flow test. Everything is working great!!! I was concerned that the flow would be too great coming out of the right side rock, but it's fine. Also wanted to ensure that the uptakes were able to pull enough water through the bottom of the rocks and they are just fine! I am very excited as now I will be getting my substrate (Carbi Sea Argonite) and my Lace rock together for installation and the long awaited FILL!!!!

Default Tank Filled with Lobsters!

I got the Aqua scape done and got my 3 lobsters from my other tank in their new home. I was able to cycle the tank instantly by taking some gravel On right side from my other tank and also Bio-Stars from the filter. I am totally amazed at how this came out. It is the "Show" tank I have been wanting for years in the entry way! Now I have to decide what African Chichlid I want to add, as well as plants. Any Ideas?
