Raising PH

How do you all raise the PH without raising GH and KH in RO water? Im about to start a tiger shrimp tank and I need to get the PH around 7, problem is the water that comes out of my RO filter has a PH of 6.3-6.4. and I remineralize with Bee shrimp mineral GH+. My well water is super hard with PH 7.2 GH 17 KH 17 TDS 300 so using that is out of the question, so Any ideas?

Mix a batch of RO and Tap, find a balance that gives you the quality you want.

I've already tried doing that, I end up getting everything how I want it except for the KH, it is still too high around 7-9.

Have you aged your RO? Maybe throw an airstone in in overnight? That should off gas some CO2 which will raise the pH, I just don't know how much. Do that before you remineralize and maybe you'll get closer to pH 7. I'm going to try the same thing and see where it gets me. Otherwise, can you get non-RO water from someplace else to mix? Something softer than what you have?

Why do you want to raise the pH of reminerallized RO? Sounds like you're making water for caridinas, am I right?

Yes you are right, I am making it for regular tiger shrimp, I currently raise and breed super tigers and they like the PH to be around 6.8 to 7...so Im assuming regular tigers would like those same water parameters.

Right now my PH in the super tiger shrimp tank is 6.6 and Im not getting a very good shrimplet survival rate, when I had them closer to a ph of 7 they did alot better and I had way more shrimplets roaming around. I should have left the substrate alone instead of changing it to AS amazonia. I don't plan on using amazonia for this new tank, I might just go with FSS

My fss has kept me at 6.4 for a year so far.

Really? I thought it was supposed to buffer the water around 7. I guess I'll have to do alittle more research on some different substrates

If you were using tap water, yeah the FSS will generally buffer at 7-7.4 depending on how hard the tap is. I have FSS and use straight RO (remineralized of course) and it sits at 6.6-6.7. I've got OEBT and Tibees in the tank along with some others. But right now I don't have any breeding so take what I say with a grain of salt
