The hard plastic part is right at 7 inches, but adding the suction cups brings it to 8, if you can dig into the gravel on the bottom ust a bit and have any glass above the water line for the suctin cup, you'll be fine. I think one LFS has this in a 5.5, not certain of the size.
They have mayaca in that little tank, it fits that small tank really well. |

what about the jungle co2 fizz factory? its cheaper... plus the tabs are cheap. i think its smaller. i don't know. has anybody seen or tried it? what about flourish excel? does that supply co2? if it does... how long does a bottle of flourish excel last to for a 5.5 gallon?

i just went to bigalsonline and they have a bunch of flourish products. if i use flourish excel... what other flourish should i use? i just need basic all-around fertilization. i don't have any fertilizers right now and i don't have fish but i plan to add them in a couple of months.
what about florish excel, flourish trace, and flourish? is that the basic stuff i need? i don't want to get all technical. |

IMO, the hagen is a great way to add CO2, Excel also works but don't overdose it. It sorta depends on your light level, Excel is fine for lower light, CO2 better for higher. If you have lower light, you won't need much fertilizer. the Sechem line gets high marks from those who use it.
What is your light situation? That will help you get the better answer. |

Then you want the Hagen system, IMO.
Someone else will have to tell you about the Seachem line, I dose separately now, but I started with TMG drops daily and that was perfect for my tanks. Then it was just too easy, so I started tinkering.... |
