Thanks folks. Yeah, I really like the look too, but then again- I'm biased.

Oh, and for those who haven't caught on yet (and I think most of you have), Nessie is the name of the Loch Ness Monster.

I know what you are saying, and you are correct. However I have over a hundred shrimp in there, and for me to know who bred with who and keep track of every female and their offspring would be a humungous effort.

Ahhhhh. Hmmm. Maybe you could move the poor stock out? Only keep 10-15 really good ones

how hardy are they. with you working for that color for so long how would you add new blood over time since i have not seen anything else like them. wouldnt that be a problem at some point? i mean adding anything other than a green would mess up some of the hard color would wouldnt it? they are awsome though your doing a great job

There is no physical proof of genetic defects in shrimp through inbreeding.

All CRS are from the same first shrimp to mutate in Japan. The green neos would be fine as well. Shrimp are genetically designed to be able to handle inbreeding.

MABJ is absolutely correct.

However I decided to do this particular project with several of the green mutations instead of just picking two then breeding, two then breeding, etc. I wanted to get as much genetic variation as I could without messing up the green. Admittedly it is taking a MUCH longer time to do the selective breeding this way, however I am less likely to have problems in the future with reproductive depression. I was lucky this time because I had more than 2 greens thrown. If I only had 1 or two greens, I don't know that I would have had this option.

MABJ, yepper. Now we're on the same wavelength. I'm moving out the lesser quality to a different tenner, and keeping the higher grades in the original tank.

I'll see if I can get some more on feeding day. My camera skills suck, so I have to take a zillion pics just to make sure a couple came out. heh

Good!! Very nice. I'll be the first to buy a nice painted green strain that breeds true.

Good idea on moving the low quality out. Seems like after two years your progress is great. Do you have a timeline for when you expect a full painted quality?

I'm really hoping I can get a high percentage of sakura/painteds in the 3-5 generations. So hopefully I'm very close now. Of course the best laid plans of mice and men...

I could almost give you a calendar if it was mice. LOL Shrimp have a very different genetic code I haven't even begun to crack yet!

I don't think anybody has yet haha. In a year I'm hoping to get some hulk shrimp from you sorry I'm not using Nessie, but I want to impress how happy I am there's a bright green shrimp in the works.

As promised- fed today and here's some pictures. I know, I know they suck, however I'm not a photographer and it's the best pics I found out of like a hundred.

BTW, that's a dehydrated blood worm she's eating upside down on the mulberry leaf.

Also, some have stripes on the back olive colored. Kinda cool, actually. I think I won't breed it in or out, just let it be for variety.
