Two kribs in a 40B currently - one is a major pain in the butt to the other.
Now with a 40B I thought having two male kribs would be okay but one is just a relentless savage and will just chase the other all over once he spots him. I have lots of plants, lots of cover and poor line of sight in this tank.
I don't really want to get rid of either one of them and was wondering if adding like 3 more kribs would ease the aggression on the one single krib. Other fish in the tank include 2 bolivian rams, 6 bloodfin tetra, 4 red eye tetra and 3 serpae tetra |

I'd get 2 females and let a pair form. Then give the other ones to the LFS or donate them to Petco or Petsmart or something. They'll just keep fighting. Some male cichlids are just like that.

I'll get one of your male kribs if you want to rehome him.

Giving them caves might help too. The less aggressive might be able to stake his territory there. But it's true, some guys are like that!

I have rocks in such a way that it makes a cave.
Another question though - why are there bellies red? Especially the one getting picked on his belly is really red. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2 |

No heh. Just figured they were because the one keeps gettin his butt kicked.
How do you sex kribs and does their red belly have anything to do with their sex? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2 |

post pictures.
the females will get really pink in their abdomen when they're ready to mate or full of eggs. the male will get red around his face and bottom half when defensive/aggressive. its very easy to sex kribs though, the male are noticeably larger and longer. http://www.spheniscus.ch/datafish/up...20pulcher.html male on left, female on right. cichlids are all a funny bunch. while dwarf cichlids are considered "passive" they can be very very aggressive with each other. i've a breeding pair and the female will get very aggressive with the male when there is a failed clutch. you really have too many cichlids in that tank as well. the two rams and two kribs is asking for disaster. probably better off replacing the kribs with more rams as they'll form a harem (while kribs form pairs) |

Oh snaps maybe I do have a male and female then. Because the belly is really red like in that photo and its definitely not as long as the other.
The bolivians cause no harm to anyone though..they're really peaceful especially compared to the krib. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2 |

Then it's an unpaired male and female, and the male wants to mate while the female doesn't.
