Starting First Tank!!

I am starting my first planted tank. The tank will comprise of the following parts:

Tank: 29 gallon
Filtration: Penn-plex Cascade 500
Substrate: Eco-Complete
Lighting: Fluval aqualife and plant
No CO2

I currently have an 8 gallon tank with a gourami. This tank is nothing special. I was thinking of taking the 29 gallon and adding the water directly into the 29 gallon with the gourami. I will add the hob filter pad into the canister filter. I will also float the biowheel in the tank. Will this help speed the cycle up and are there any negatives to this approach.

Adding the filter media will definitely help with the cycling process.
I'm not very experienced but I would caution against adding the water and the fish unless you are looking to do a fish in cycle. Although the filter media can speed the timing up doesn't mean there won't be spikes or problems with ammonia. But maybe someone else can elaborate.

What type of plants are you looking to add?
The 29 gallons I have seen are pretty tall so you will have to factor that in as to how much light you will need for the types of plants you are adding.

I am doing a fish-in cycle. I have completed them before in past tanks and realize I have to watch all levels until the cycle is completed. I haven't figured out what plants I will be adding yet. I should have done more research before purchasing my lights. There is no PAR data and it does make me nervous. I will start with taller plants and work down to carpeting plants if I can. It will be a little trial and error. Looking at starting with:

Micro sword
Java Fern
Anubias nana
Water Sprite

Security Question
While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, John and his friend Sally both spotted a dalmatian inside of a truck with sirens. The animal with John and Sally is a _ _ _?
