help! time to re-do my aquascape

Hi everyone.
just wondered if I could get some advise on re-doing my planted tank. Right now I have a 40G breeder with 96Watts and some DIY C02. My PH is 6-6.5 and I dose (when I remember) flourish excel and plant food.

I want to overhaul my tank, move the rocks, add some driftwood and re-arrange the plants. should I remove all my fish first? The last time I did some re-organizing the water became very cloudy from the substrate being stirred up.

I cleaned an old 10G tank. I have had it a long time and I know that the last time I put a fish in it, the fish died. I cleaned the tank with aquarium salt and a little water and then rinsed it out. Will it be ok as a hospital tank? should I put my fish in it when I re-do my tank?

lastly, I found the driftwood (its just what I wanted) on the beach in Nova Scotia, I dried it out, boiled it and let it soak for a month. It should be ok in my aquarium....right?

If you wish, or have anything incredibly sensitive. Cloudy water happens in nature, in fact... Most natural waters are not crystal clear.. be it silt or free floating algae.
