tank mates for sparkling gouramis

I'm looking for fish options that won't stress or outcompete sparkling/pygmy gouramis for food. I'm thinking a school of dwarf pencilfish? I'd like to do a dwarf cichlid too.

38 gallons, planted, pH 7.5, temp ~77'F
It is still cycling at the moment do there are no existing fish.

Anything that's too big to be eaten (which is just about any fish I can think of) and too peaceful to nip fins or give chase. Dwarf cichlids... you never know with any cichlids. A single keyhole cichlid or Bolivian ram would probably be fine, though. Dwarf pencilfish, smaller rasboras (emerald, harlequin, chili), smaller tetras (ember, green neon, ruby, cardinal), and cories should be fine. A 38 gallon is a good-sized tank, you could probably have a large school (10-15) of smaller fish in there.
