What's the recommended water change schedule for a plants only tank?
I have a 47 gal heavily planted tank with no fish, pressurized CO2, and I dose with RootMedic liquid macros and micros every other day. I am guessing that I can go longer between the water changes since there are no fish. How often and how much water changes should I do?

Are you following the EI dosing regimen? If so, you should be doing water changes once a week in any case...
If not, we need more information on how you are dosing.

Well, the more you keep up on ti and keep things stable, the better, whatever that routine works out to be for you that does not harm plant growth.
That's a pretty large target.

As per the instructions that came with the RootMedic ferts, I dose one pump Micro and Macro Solutions for every 5 gallons of water three to four times per week.

So, what is the NO3 doing through the week?
Do you have tests for any other fertilizers? You can adjust your dosing so fewer or smaller water changes are OK, or you can adjust your water changes to suit the dosing. |
