Co2 question

I'm wondering if this type of regulator will work with most available solenoids: Whitey valve and HP Swagelok female quick connect (male QC fitting not included). All fittings are attached to the regulator with 1/4NPT threads

please refer to this pic : description & pic

here is a link to a solenoid I am considering.
solenoid

Not sure if I need stainless or extra espense, but it sure looks sick.

Thanks Brian

I'm pretty sure that this same setup has been discussed here recently and it was resolved that the equipment is not actually that compatible for what we use it for.

Also note that the cylinder in this case has an expired hydro test date. That means you will have to get it tested before you can get it filled. That's another ~$20 or so. And it costs almost the same to fill a 2.5 lb cylinder as it does a 10 lb cylinder.

Default New concerns on degassing from sump

Thanks for the heads up, I might just kick down for new stuff, valving and controller anyway. After reviewing the informational links you have provided me wiith, I am tripping on my tanks reef ready built in overflow (in terms of degassing). I am running an Oceanic 75 trickle filter with submerged media, however the two areas that cause concern are the spillover from the "built in" wet dry (an old tru-vu with wet-dry in the back. Right now it is running with no media except for submerged sponge for mechanical large debris screening. The spillover from the tank to pre-filter is only an inch or less of a drop. I can live with that but the drop from prefilter to sump area is about 8 ". Lots of opportunity for degassing.

Q: Can I use dual siphon tubes from prefilter to sump to minimize air contact?

Then I have drilled the bottom for second sump chamber. Sounds lik a crazy thing to do but the built in sump is a pain in the ass to access and has little room for anything except increasing water volume. The secondary sump has the same issue but I am confident that I can minimize the loss with tubing to the bottom of the sump. Less than ideal? YES. Can it be fitted to work? you tell me.

Thanks Brian
