And here's both pieces together. I bought them thinking I could have both in there but I don't know if it's too congested and if it causes the tank to lack a real focal point. Worst case I use the second one in another tank sometime down the road as I think the first has the most interesting features.

I'd love some opinions on whether the two driftwood setup is going to make a good setup as far as aesthetics go or should I just stick with one?

First piece has a lot of character but could be difficult to incorporate. I really think you could use the second piece alone for a nice stump look, but it depends on what you were thinking for plants. I would also get some substrate in the thank so you can get a feeling for how the pieces will sit in the tank. That will definitely help visualize what you're trying to do.

Plants I'm looking at:

Coffee Anubias
Cryptocoryne wendtii
Cryptocoryne x willisii 'lucens'
Java Fern
Java Moss
Vallisneria
Anacharis
Hygrophila Angustifolia

That's what I've looked at so far. It's a low tech setup so I'm not sure if any of those plants need CO2 supplementation. They were all just listed as low light easy to medium difficulty.

Got some of my equipment delivered so I took a few pics.

LED Light setup from Build My LED. Dutch Planted 6300K, 75 degree angle. Will use suspension mount to suspend it 6" above the water.

Dimmer for LED

Suspension Mount

Hydor 200w ETH In-line heater

Maintenance stuff

Ordered a 6 gallon tub of Aquadurt in the Black Diamond color. Once that arrives I can start putting everything together and finally order my plants.

Plants I've decided on:

Hygrophila corymbosa Angustifolia
Cryptocoryne, Spiralis (Cryptocoryne spiralis)
Cryptocoryne, Wendtii, Green (Cryptocoryne wendtii)
Cryptocoryne Parva
Pellia Monosolenium Tenerum
Baby Tears , Dwarf
Java Fern (Microsorium pteropus)

Co2 is not entering the equation whatsoever. So I'll adjust accordingly. The dimmer on the lighting should give me the ability to dial in an appropriate setting as these plants have low to moderate requirements.

Tested my water today with the new KH/GH kit, TDS and ph as well

KH - 6dkh
GH - 8dkh
TDS - 93ppm
pH - 7.4 (Had to use high range pH solution)

I'm assuming the driftwood will lower the hardness some.
