Is this normal for moss?

I purchased Flame Moss about a week and a half ago for my 2 gallon shrimp tank. I noticed a couple of days ago the the very ends of the moss look faded. It looks as if it was made up of very fine white hair that's unraveling. Not every tip is like this, maybe 30-40% of the moss.

I don't see any discoloration anywhere else on the moss other than on some tips.

I have no experience with moss and didn't finding anything in the search about similar occurrences. I did cut some of the moss after I tied it to a piece of driftwood. So I don't know if this is what new growth looks like at first, or else this is a sign of the plant not doing well. I would have to guess the latter.

Thanks for any insight.

Are you sure it's not hair or thread algae? A picture would help.
