RO system recommendations

I'm looking into getting an RO system mainly for my shrimp tank I just established.. It is something that would be useful for me in the long run as I live on top of a mountain and have pretty hard water and ridiculous TDS (600-900ppm) levels from tap. On top of this I have too many nitrates coming out of my tap and it has harmed shrimp in the past.

I am wondering if anyone has recommendations on which systems to look into. I am willing to spend 200 give or take unless it is unnecessary to spend that much.

Thanks in advance PT members, you guys are always extremely helpful

get a cheap 5 stage from evil bay, those molded plastic parts with o-ring, are cheap to make and less than likely has problem in the long run, but if you want an expensive 5 stage, it is your choice.

The core of the RO system is the membrane filter, don't go cheap on this one, and make sure it is a GE.

BulkReefSupply has some models that fit your budget, and look to be an extra $20 off today. I have one of their 150 gal water saver models, and it has been a great investment for me. Highly recommend their units.

BulkReefSupply is great but I purchased Spectrapure and love it. Solid build and great customer service. They regularly sell factory blemish ones on their site that are great deals and work perfectly.

If the OP is remotely adventurous, there is a unit the FS/FT section for quite a good price. I don't know the brand history, but a bit of research might land someone a good deal. Just happened to notice it there.

bulkreefsupply and spectrapure are the two names i've been seeing a lot of. but i really only plan on using this for my 8g shrimp tank.

i have a 20g as well but i'm not sure i want to throw the balance of the tank off by introducing RO water.

With that being said, i'm guessing 50GPD would be fine for someone like me?

Also, are these RO units something that can be attached to any faucet in the house?

iSpring 75GPD 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis RO DI (De-ionization) Water Filter #RCC7D
You can get this whole setup from amazon for $215.
I have a post I just put up on my really bad tap water, but if they say yes it removes phosphates then this was what I looked into.

I have a SpectraPure CSPDI Standard 90-GPD RO/DI System.
No complaints what so ever. Most of the water here comes from local limestone aquifers. So naturally, water out of the tap is liquid rock. After a year of use I still get 0 TDS from this thing. I can't recommend it enough. I originally paid around $240 for it but right now its priced at $189.99

Seems like a pretty good deal. Where did you see this listed at that price? I just popped that into amazon and it's coming up at $299
