Welding supply shops should carry Black Diamond in 50# bags for about $8.

Go to GT. Rentals in Brooklyn. $17 for 100lbs of Black Beauty. Also, it's right off the BQE.

How is the Black beauty sand from GT Rentals? Anybody use that? Is it dirty and need quite a bit of wash? Is it bigger and heavier than regular play sand? I can't use 100lbs, anybody got like half or less for sale, want to use it to cap MG soil.
Also, I found pfs in homedepot, but 5 - 5lbs cost $25+, is it that expensive or I am looking for the wrong one? http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...1#.UMX-yIMdyYs |

im not a fan of black fine substrate and wanted something a bit more natural looking. also found the black diamond to have oddly shaped particles.
ended up getting 80lbs of STS. Thanks Mach.

What is sts look like? Is it the one made of clay? Does it break down? Are you using it alone and as a cap for something? Did you get it locally?

I bought a bag from them and I'll probably buy another one. It's pretty dusty so you should rinse it a couple of times before putting it into your tank. It's incredibly dense so you don't have to worry about it getting kicked up by your filters. However if you have large fish that dig, I'd recommend raising up your intakes well above the sand. I'd split a bag with you but then I realized I might have to use the entire 100lb bag for future projects.

Oh, that was meant for Monster about the finnex, sorry. Anyone know the difference between model 7941 and 7951 except the weight? I don't know how they can ship 40lbs for free and make a profit. Most people use 7941 from the reading.

If anyone has around 25 lbs of spare sand, I'm looking for some too. Considering aragonite sand as well.
