90 gal low tech
Fertilizer for low tech
Just wanted to add my post with the info that I've gained over the last 6 months. My aquarium has been up and running for about 15 years, Had South american Cichlids with driftwood and rocks, no plants…After the last Red Devil passed on I decided that a few plants would be nice… you know the rest. After much research here and other sites decided on a low light, low tech planted tank. Realized I had missed a lot over the last few years about the latest upgrades, Decided on Catalina 3 bulb fixture for lighting, only use 1 or two at a time, just recently got the Aqua Ray controller and grow beams for effect… Will post that info on lighting. I know that i had to be careful with low tech not to over due the light, but it took a lot of reading to decide on the fertilizer I would use, I ordered from GLA, turns out they are located a couple miles from my sister in Gainesville, FL. , small world. ordered: 1/2 lb Miller Microplex 1 lb Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) [censored] [censored]1/4 tsp wk/90 gal 1 lb Mono Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4). 1/8 tsp 1 lb The Ultimate GH Booster 1/2 tsp 1/2 lb Iron Chelate 11% DTPA received the next day, really… I ordered the ferts because though the plants were growing OK, really just looking for staying nice looking not looking for growth, some were yellowing and showing other signs of deficiency. Tom Barr has great info, as well as Orlando on ferts used with low tech setup. I used the Millers and Iron to make the ~tropicana master mix After 6 months of use everything is going real well and slow growth is steady and green, fish are happy and I enjoy <((((º> ¸.·´¯`·.¸¸><((((º> ¸.·´¯`·.¸¸><((((º> ¸.·´¯`·.¸¸><((((º> ¸.·´¯`·.¸¸><((((º>¸.·´¯`·.¸¸><((((º>¸.·´¯`·.¸¸><(( ((º> . |

Well, they must have all been hiding pretty good when you took pic #3 - or else I'm really losing my eyesight - lol.
Whoa - enlarged the pic - now I see 1 Angel, and a few Tiger Barbs. Well at least that's a little progress. |
