Can Otos, RCS scratch an acrylic tank
I am almost certain to go with an acrylic tank, but do algae eaters scratch acrylic or do cherry or amano shrimp
can you clean acrylic with a synthetic sponge. I am not talking about a scraper. |

No and yes.
I'v been keeping otos and bushy nose plecos in my acrylic tank for 10+ years and I cannot find any marks from them. Use the white colored sponge only, not the blue one.

What I've found will scratch tanks is substrate. Sand, eco-complete, gravel, even hardscape. If I clean the tank with a sponge and some sand gets trapped in the sponge, it's easy to scratch the tank. I've done it... a lot

Only if they don't trim their nails...
You'll mostly get substrate scratches when you aren't careful moving stuff within the tank or vacuuming

The only freshwater fish that scratch acrylic are larger plecos, pufferfish, and some of the larger cichlids.
