Fluval Edge 12-Gallon - Community Tank

I thought I would start a journal on my community tank. Here are the specs:

- Fluval Edge 12 Gallon
- Eheim 2213 Canister Filter
- Aquatek Mini Paintball Regulator
- Up Aqua Inline Aerator
- Ikea LED Lighting (side of the tank for the HC)
- EcoComplete Substrate
- Purigen and no Carbon in the filter

Animals
- Cardinal Tetras - 4
- Guppies - 3 adults about 10 fries/adolescents.
- Red Cherry Shrimp - 10-15 (several berried)
- Assassin Snails - 2
- Various pest snails (Ramshorn, Pond, and Malaysan Turrets Snails).

Plants
- Kleiner Bar Sword
- Vallisneria
- Micro Swords
- Baby Dwarf Tears
- Anacharis
- Myrio - Red

So far, I have had no issues with cycling and maintaining the tank. The only issue I have had is finding a suitable CO2 bubble rate to keep the shrimp sober and alive. Right now I am getting about 1 bubble per 5 seconds. I will gradually increase it as they adjust.

Although I didn't plan on this tank being a breeders tank, the guppies are breeding steadily. I give the guppies away as they grow up. I am hoping the RCS also breed at a sustainable pace. The Assassins are there to control the pest snail population. I don't mind pest snails, but I don't want an infestation.

Here is a video of the latest set up.

I'm surprised that you have any shrimp at all in your tank. I've had both guppies and cardinal tetras snack on ghost shrimp in the past, so I don't keep them together. The tank looks nice though.

Thanks. The Cardinals and guppies don't mess with the adult RCS at all. I haven't had them long enough to see if the RCS will be successful breeders, but I think they should be able to have some off spring since there is a lot of places for them to hide (I hope).

Several RCS are berried, so I should know soon.

I added a Coralife 50/50 10 watt mini CF lamp under the hood. I think I am good with light now. I hope my HC and Micro Swords start to flourish now. I would like a carpeted floor.

I am bummed... I think I lost all my Cherries when I left for vacation. My autofeeder was a bit aggressive, but nothing too bad since it only fed once a day, but my air pumped stop working.

I had my CO2 running at a very low level (I should have turned it off in hindsight), but the air being off caused the CO2 levels to go up to high...

My Baby Dwarf tears are also struggling. Not because of light or CO2, but because the guppies seem to like to pull the plants up from the roots. I will wait a bit longer, but I might have to replace them with Micro Swords.
