Question

low part of plants rotting

So some of my plants in a particular area of my 36gallon seem to be dissolving at the base. The stems just seem to rot the leaves are fine though. I can think of one thing in that area is that's where I drop the aquarium salt. Do you think it could be the aquarium salt? Maybe I should dissolve the salt and pour it in not just drop the crystals in and let sink to the bottom...

What are the plants?

Parameters of your tank? GH, KH, temperature, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?

Lighting? Ferts?

And why are you adding salt? That can definitely harm plants but many species are hardy.
