Algae Grower

Ok so I started some liquid ferts & within a 2 days I have some new growth on the Wallachii & the indica! (BTW I was incorrect in an earlier post. the melting plant is the Limnophila Hippuroides no the indica). I lost some baby tears, but others seem to be doing well. The blyxa seems to be holding steady. No melting, but no signs of growth yet. I'll have to get some updated photos hopefully one night this week. The Limnophila seems to have all but died at this point. I'll try to get a few good photos of it and maybe someone can tell me if I should just pull them out. The betta seems to be one happy camper. he mostly hangs out around the heater. he actually lays against it most of the time, that is unless i put my finger in the water. He rubs on me like a cat and lets me pet him for a while before I feed him. He's pretty awesome. He's also been known to jump out of the water and catch a mosquito in mid air. Happened three times. The third time I almost got it on video. I stopped the video too early because i thought the thing flew away. I'll have to find it and upload.
Side note, will a dead plant have any effect on my water chemistry the way a dead fish would. What I mean is should I be worried about an ammonia spike or something like that that could hurt my Betta? |

The green slimy hair-like algae is much worse than it looks in the pictures. not sure what to do about it. the other picture is not looking to get rid of the Betta lol. It's wondering if I should pull out the plants that look like they died or is there still hope for them?
Thanks all!!!!! |

Bump.. Can anyone help me out on this? How do I get rid of this algae? Should I remove the "melted" plants?
Thanks! |
