Rocket filter for shrimp?

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you have experience with this with shrimp. I know they are said to be "fry" safe

I could see shrimp getting sucked up in those slots on it. They are very tiny when they are first born.

I got a reply from the maker does anyone have any experience he says they're shrimp safe

I would just go sponge filters or HOB, cannister filters myself. If those slots are so small that a shrimp can't fit through, they are small enough to get clogged fairly regularly. Baby shrimp are very small for the first few weeks, so much that you can't even usually see them without a magnifying glass.

Your choice, give them a show if you want, I think they may be too big myself.

The Rocket filter is Air Driven. Even if Shrimp get in the slots, past the Lava Rock Rubble, into the Tube and on the filter floss they will be fine. They could even ride the bubbles out and not be harmed. on'y time you might have to worry is when Changing the filter floss. I find RCS in my Canister filter all the time when I clean it.

Yup, should be fine as stated above, I also find a large colony of shrimp every time I clean my canisters!

I've talked to him about them, He seems like an Honest guy, I dont think he would tell you that it was suitable for your shrimp unless he was sure, he has a reputation to upkeep after all

he is always selling Discus and Angels I know that's what he uses them for

I believe that they're safe for shrimp.
I don't believe that you should be paying $15 for $3 worth of Lowes or Home Depot PVC fittings. This filter simply operates off of the principals of a DIY sponge filter. It's just that he moved where the filter material occurs in the flow.

Just a DIYers' $.02. It is of course your money and it is a slick looking filter.

Joe Gargas builds/makes the filters. I met with him a couple weeks ago to tour his fish room and I bought two of the filters for angel fry. No problems. I was using a HOB with a nylon on the intake strainer and the flow was too strong for newborns.

yeah I kind of agree they are a little pricey

I'm actually from Apollo beach FL
next time I'm down there I plan on trying to pick up some of his angels and maybe I might buy a Filter
