Problems with plants (56k Warning)
Hello. I am new to the forum, so I am not sure if this is the correct place for this post. If it is not, please let me know.
I am having problems with my tank. It is about 1.5 weeks old, and all the plants are dieing. It is a 45 gallon tank. It has a 2 tube T5HO lamp (36" Roseate and 6000k) and a Fluval 405 can filter. I am currently not doing any CO2, but I did just start doing with Flourish and Flourish Excel. My substrate is Eco-Complete. This tank is just starting to cycle. I have not started adding ammonia yet. Here are may chem stats. pH - 8.2 Ammonia - .25 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate - 20 I have not had a chance to check GH or KH. Those tests are getting here today. I am running my light for about 8 hours a day. Here are some photos of the problems I am having. I am VERY new to this, so any help is appreciated. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The first night these plants were in the tank the O2 was streaming off the leaves. Now there are never any bubbles. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Last edited by Mayiko; 02-20-2013 at 04:08 PM.. Reason: Changes title to indicate pictures |

The first picture is an anubias plant. You are not supposed to put the root rhizome of anubias under the substrate...it will die, instead tie it to a rock or DW.
I don't think you have too much light for the other plants but lack of ferts. Eco complete don't bring much ferts for your plants at all, you can use root tabs or flourish tabs. |

I will replant the anubias. I am also going to look up all the other plants I have to make sure they are planted correctly. I was thinking I was having a fert problem. I did start using flourish and flourish excel yesterday. I also just order some flourish tabs for the root feeders. Do you think this will be sufficient? |

I think they are just readjusting to your tank condition. I hope they will spring back in time.

I think it should be enough...just remember Flourish Excel is source of CO2, you will need it along with the root tabs, if you cant balance lighting, ferts and CO2...boom algea
