what is this moss?
bought some java moss awhile back while doing a dry start.. started spreading great and then this started sprouting in - very thin and feather like. I really love the look of it just wondering what it is

I believe that is actually a type of algae, it could be green thread or a form of clado from the looks of it.

The long strands extending are moss but the thick stuff on top is algae like fishcraze said.

Thanks fishcrazee. After doing some more research I have concluded it is
Clado or Cladophora aegagropila. I think this it the plant moss balls are made of. Wondering how it got into my tank? Also Is this good or bad to have in your tank like this. |

It's marimo ball type clado. If you like it, keep it. I have a marimo ball in my nano and a small tuft has slowly started to grow on my hard scape. I am keeping it.
